The Future of Swimming

To Start off let me say that I love to swim and I used to swim with my school back home. When I thought of topics to write on the subject of the future of swimming I thought about inventions that would benefit the future of competitive swimming. At first, I thought I would talk about the development of the full body suit that was a big controversial subject a couple years ago, but I did not like that topic, I believed it to be cheating in so many ways. Then I thought I would possibly do the fact of the new solar powered heating pools that they are coming out with but that is kind of now not the future. Then I ran across an article about an invention for blind people to be able to stay in their own lanes and depend only on themselves, not someone else telling them when to. Staying in their own lanes, and timing a turn, has always been a huge problem for the blind. One wrong move for them and it could cause them to completely get thrown off course and cause them to lose focus of the finish line. The way of this old and problematic solution of notifying the swimmer was a person at the end of the lane would have a pole with a tennis ball attached to a string. This “guider” would tap the swimmer on the head or the body when they reached the end of the lane. This worked fine but there are many problems to this event. First of all there was always a shortage of the people that were willing to do this tedious job. Second of all there was never enough funding to pay these people to do this as a full time job. So when Annie Swacki discovered a new invention and solved this problematic situation, many people were excited about it. After many failed attempts on creating an electronic prototype, Annie finally came up with a working product. This product consisted of a series of flexible plastic rods with balls on one end and brackets on the other that attach to a standard lane line. The lines that attach to the body of the swimmer can be placed were ever fits best and is out of the way of the techniques of swimming. This invention keeps the swimmer in their own lane and keeps them from veering off into the competitor’s lane, solving several problems alone. This invention also helps to notify the swimmer where the end of the wall is, and allows them to do a proper turn. For the blind this invention is like having eyes and a teacher guiding them along the race and gives them the confidence they need to win their match. All in all, I see this product being the future of swimming for blind swimmers in the near future. This product has already been accepted by the Kiefer Company and promised to be mass produced so any blind swimmer may purchase one. This will definitely be a new revolution for all blind swimmers and will allow more blind people to enjoy the hobby or profession they seek the most.

Summer Job

This last summer I had to get a job to pay for my gas and just every day living so I decided to get a job with my uncle. He builds houses for a living. The first day I started it was so darn hot. And every single day after that it just seemed to get hotter. The first day I came on the job they were finishing up the bottom part of the house and getting ready to start on the up stairs. When we finished at the end of the summer we were done blacking in the house. That means putting up the walls. First day we started building the rooms for upstairs. Once we got the rooms square we started working on the rafters that went across the top of the house. This was an incredibly hard task to complete. This took every ounce of strength plus determination with patients and skill. We had to carry them by hand up the side then hoist them up and hold them while the person up top nailed them. Not to mention they had to be squared and in the right place. But over all I felt really good when I finished with this job. I had accomplished many great things such as pretty much building a house ha. And it taught me many things about life and my uncle was just plain fun to work with anyways. If I could do it all over again next summer I definitely would. Maybe I will. Maybe I will…

christmas break

These past couple of weeks all I have been thinking about was getting out for college break I can’t wait! All I want to do is go home and just sit there and drink egg nog ha I wish. But yeah I think I have to get a job over Christmas break. I don’t have any money so I might need to start thinking about that. Ha I have to pay fraternity dues and have money just to live on so this whole job thing is sounding more real every second I think about it. But oh well I have to pay the bills and that’s the only way to do it so I guess I’ll just have to look forward to it. Well Christmas break I plan on hunting a lot and hopefully getting a deer or a turkey to bring home. Yeah speaking of turkey I’m going to eat so much food Christmas eve. We have the whole family over to my grandma’s house and she cooks and we open presents and what not its just the greatest thing ever. And now that my brother is of age we now have a lil extra happy drink on that special night if you know what I mean. Ha nothing to bad though, its all fun and games. So yeah my parents made me get my own Christmas present this year ha so much for the element of surprise but oh well I’m sure it will still be just as a holly time as ever.

Molly my best friend

Molly was my golden retriever dog. She was my best friend in the whole wide world. She was always such a very happy dog, even after the time I ran her over accidentally. Molly was a very sweet dog, and never would do any harm to any living thing besides grasshoppers and squirrels. She loved to chase both. And she always was begging me to take her out in the boat. So I did pretty much every day after school I would hop in the boat and take her for a joy ride and play fetch with her on the island behind my house. This dog was pretty large also. She was extremely overweight but I loved her and she loved me ha. One day I noticed her not being herself; she acted like she was sick. And the next day she didn’t get better. The third day I took her to the vet and the doc said that she had been poisoned. He said she ate something like a dead squirrel but I knew that wasn’t it. The fourth day my best friend passed away. Her kidneys shut down and she couldn’t eat anything so her body just shut down. If I knew who ever poisoned my dog I probably would do very means things to them. The only thing that killed me was that she was only 5 when she died. So that made her 35 in dog years. That was way to young for a golden retriever to die. oh well I’m in college now and I cant get a new dog but when I get my own house I will. And I’ll probably name her molly jr. and just call it, jr.

Formal

Formal every year is a reception that my fraternity has in New Orleans. We rent out a bar on Burbon Street and eat dinner first. The dinner is steak and steamed veggies. It is quite delectable from what I hear. But and ways we all dress up and it is a really fun time for everyone. We pay for the meal plus an open bar. For those who are of age they party it down and just have a good old fashion time. We pretty much are free to do whatever we want with the time that we are there but most people stay at the bar and dance and have a good time with their brothers. But some have different plans for the night. For those who are of age go to the casino and have fun there. I wish I could go to the casino sometimes it just seems like so much fun and what not. But oh well I’m only 18 so I can’t do anything of that sort yet. But I’m not pouting because I can have fun with out drinking or gambling ha that sounds really bad, maybe because they are bad in a way. But any ways we go down for Saturday night and Sunday and roam Bourbon Street for a night. It ought to be a blast so I hope so dearly. Ha and that is my plans for this weekend kind of a get away after all the exams ha. A gift for myself

kindergarden

Kindergarten was hands down my favorite year of school. First of all your still young and dumb and don’t really know what’s going on you just know that your there and that you are with all these other kids. Kindergarten was great simply because of nap time… yes I said it, nap time. Every day after lunch Mrs. Jackie would take us into the room tell us to get out our mats and lie down to nap. They would turn out the lights and I would just pass out. I never had the teacher tell my mom once that I was hard to put to sleep. I passed that subject faster than dale Earnhardt in the Daytona raceway. I know that every day I would anticipate on snack time being there at the same time every day, and it was! Just like I thought ha I loved kindergarten, really it didn’t get much better than that. In the morning we would get to cut out numbers and color them and glue them on paper I mean I don’t know how I did but I heard I was a natural superstar at that too. Then after nap time we would get story time. Now my teacher was the absolute greatest she would act out everything. I think that’s why I liked kindergarten so much was because well one I was great at it and two my teacher was awesome. Then after story time we would get recess. Now I dunno how I was at that but I think I just ran around in circles a lot and jumped off things. I mean I don’t know that for sure but if I had to guess, that’s exactly what I did when I was that age.

The Dirty Dodge, (Kirt) My Truck

My truck is a Dodge Dakota, 4x4, 4 door, V8, with 32 BF Goodrich mud terrains. Its color is very special to me for many reasons but it is boosie bad blue. My truck has been true to me and has taught me many aspects of life. It has taught me responsibility by making me work on when needed and keeping up maintenance. It has taught me how to work hard so I could pay for gas since it does get 15 miles to the gallon. It has also taught me how much easier it is to pick up girls in a truck than a car. My truck has been a bed for the late nighters and has been a bed to haul around everything from a four wheeler to a personalized swimming pool with people in it. My truck has definitely shown me a great time over the past 4 years I’ve had it. I can’t tell you how many times I have been mud riding late at night in it, and the late nights of sitting on the tail gate at the point with friends just sipping a cold one by a fire. My truck has also seen its fair share of girls. Every girl I’ve ever dated has been in that truck. Ha its even seen its share of make out sessions in the back seat. I love my truck and my truck loves me, and I always have wanted something that was newer but you know every time I go to put that for sale sign on it just breaks my heart and just take it right back off.

The Worst Camping Trip Ever

This is the story of a great plan gone horribly wrong. Ok let me start off by saying that I am a very intelligent man and but I guess I just don't have the best luck sometimes. One day my best friend from high school came up to me and was like Patrick when are we going to make a camping trip to your camp? We’ll take your truck go mud riding, shoot some guns, go swimming it’ll be a blast man. So I was like yeah that does sound like a good time let’s do it. So that day after school I go home and ask the parents if it’s straight that we do this. They agreed and said it would be a fun time and granted me permission. So the next day I went back to school and told Lin that it was on for the weekend we need to get the guys and the ladies lined up to come. Well it turns out that were losers and no girls wanted to come but we did get 8 guys to come. So the day came and we gathered the bunch, we loaded up with the food, beer that we weren’t supposed to have and other essentials. Now the whole story kicks off when we had to make a stop at Clint’s house. There his sister found his Jack Daniels in his sleeping bag. She was like its cool I won’t tell mom. 20 minutes down the road we get a call from the mom bitching us out… yeah oh well once we get there somehow while driving down a dirt road a stick punctures my tire causing a huge gash in the side. So we go to change it but no jack. So we call another friend who brings us one well he gets there at 3 in the morning by that time everyone is drunk listening to the radio in my truck but somehow we get this thing changed. So we go to get in the truck and the truck won’t crank, because we listened to my radio for 3 hours. So no jumper cables either so later the next day I fix this. So we finally get there and my friend decides well he doesn’t know how to drive a four-wheeler so he ramps it into the pond. We finally get it out and of course it won’t crank. Oh well it was the sisters that ratted on us any who… so when we get back from pulling the four-wheeler out we go to play the x-box and come to find that the cable in the back has been chewed through by a rat. Wouldn’t that be our luck? One good outcome of this was I caught a really big fish and ate it and now we have a great story for our kids…

The One That Got Away

When I was little well I say little but I was in middle school, let’s just say about the age of 13 I knew who the girl of my dreams was. She was everything I ever wanted in a girl, extremely funny, gorgeous, blonde hair blue eyes, southern belle, and loved to drink wine, and go out in the boat to the islands and has a personality out of this world. She had an awesome family, one that was very dear to me while growing up also. We’re not going to name this girl so we’ll just call her Victoria because I like that name too. Victoria and I had lots of fun when we were in high school; she was a year older than me but not really, just a couple of months. We would skip school and ride around in her vehicle sipping on crown and a sonic coke and just turn the music up sit back and chill with the windows down just be young and dumb and just live in the moment. She was always just so perfect when she put the ray bans on and her long blond hair just waved in the wind. We would always just do the stupidest and say the dumbest things but we always had the greatest times and never stopped laughing. Now Victoria always liked older guys, which broke my heart. She would always fall for the wrong ones too. I would tell her I would say Victoria he’s not a good person I know him a lot better than you think and it’s just not going to turn out the way you want it too but she never listened. I was always in the damn friend zone which killed me even more. Still today we hand out very often and still have great times, even though her 2 almost 3 years older boyfriend is around. But he’s a really cool guy so I’m happy for em’. I think that we missed out on a lot but you can’t turn back the pages of time so I never look at it that way. Hopefully we can always be friends and ride around when we’re 70 and do the same like we were 17 again. I Just wish things would have had a different outcome sometimes.

My Camp

My Camp is located in Green County, Leakesville Ms to be more exact. My family owns 250 acres of land which consists of a 27 acre pond and a 30 acre big field. I know compared to most other people who hunt and own land, it doesn’t seem like much, but I think it is a fair size piece of property. This land is one of my favorite places in the world to be at any given time. I was raised shooting guns and riding four-wheelers on this land from age one, and have numerous memories that I would give for the world. The pond is one of the best features of the land. You can catch any kind of fish ranging from Large Mouth Bass to Brim to Cat Fish. The pond is also a life saver in the summer time when it’s a scorching 105 degrees outside. In my life I have killed 3 deer; all coming from our land. I have seen everything from turkey, deer, squirrels, to armadillos, on this land. Hunting is one of my favorite hobbies of my life time and I do a lot of it during deer season. We love to get family and friends to the camp and cook just the best food you’ve ever eaten and sit around the fire and just tell stories of “remember when’s”. Another hobby of mine is four wheeling. This takes place a lot during the summer always has and always will. Hopefully we will have this land until my kids kids are old enough to sit around the fire and tell stories of remember when’s.
